About Me

Born and raised in San Cristobal, a small village just north of Taos, NM, Peter W. Gilroy has always been fascinated by the act of creating with his hands and imagination. After studying architecture and receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts in photography from UNM, Peter discovered that woodworking was, for him, the perfect combination between practical design and hands-on creation. He has continued to develop his artistic style by apprenticing with a Franciscan Friar who is a well known furniture maker in Albuquerque, NM and attended woodworking classes at Santa Fe Community College. Today, Peter continues to live in Taos and works only on his own furniture and jewelry designs, displaying pieces at The Frank Seckler Gallery in Taos as well as at Mariposa Gallery in Albuquerque, NM. His work is clean, simple, and contemporary but draws upon the aesthetic tradition of American Furniture.
