Sequoia Sempervirens, or the Coastal Redwood, are the tallest living trees on Earth, reaching up to 379 ft in height and 29 ft in diameter. The oldest tree is thought to be about 2200 years old. Their range is fairly limited and only extends from far southern Oregon down to Big Sur, CA along the Pacific Coast. The Redwoods are a truly magical place and are sadly being threatened by climate change. Summers in California are increasingly hotter and drier, which is affecting the health of the trees as much of their moisture is absorbed from fog through their leaves and bark. Wildfires have destroyed huge areas of trees and record-breaking windstorms are also damaging the trees.
This is the second design in my American West Series. Designs launch every month and are only available in a limited amount.
